Naga Galho from Indian State Nagaland

Galho, also known as Zawo, is a popular Naga food made from a mixture of rice, vegetables and various meats. It is usually served simple that is with its main ingredients but one can try or put various other ingredients into the Galho.

This dish I have cooked with soya chunks instead of chicken

Process time : 20 minutes

Total time : 30 minutes

Ingredients: 

  • Rice - 1 cup

  • Carrot - 1

  • Cabbage - 1/4 cup

  • Cauliflower - 1/4 cup

  • Ginger - 1 inch

  • Soya chunks / chicken - 1/2 cup

  • Mustard seed leaves - 1/2 cup

  • Chili powder - 1 tsp

  • Salt - 1 tsp

Instructions:

  1. Wah and soak the rice for 1 hour

  2. Now boil the soak rice till its half cooked

  3. Now add soya chunks or chicken, carrot, cabbage, cauliflower and ginger, chili powder and salt, mix

  4. Boil until soya chunks or chicken and vegetables are cook

  5. Then add chopped mustard seed leaves to it and boi for 10 minutes

  6. Serve hot
