This is a popular dish in Nagercoil district often served with a curry of choice. Nutritious and healthy, it is one of the famous recipes of the region.
Healthy and highly nutritious ulundu sadham or urad dal rice which is easy to make and taste delicious with plain dal or egg curry.
You can make this rice twice a week, since it strong the backbone for girls.
LETS SEE HOW TO PREPARE:

Rice - 1 cup
Black urad dal - 1/2 cup
Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 string
Dried red chilli -4
Sesame oil- 4 tsp
Water - 3 cups
In a mud pot or in a pressure cooker, add sesame oil.
Once the oil is heated add mustard seeds, allow the seeds to crack, then add urad dal with fenugreek seeds.
Now add curry leaves along with it add dried red chillies, allow them to crack for few seconds.
Then add grated coconut and mix them.
Add salt as per taste.
Now add the soaked rice and black urad dal to it and mix well.
Pour 3 glass of water and mix well.
Cover and cook them until rice and dal is cooked completely.
Serve them egg curry or chicken gtavy.
NOTE: Soak the black urad dal for 2 hours for the faster cook, if you are cooking in pressure cooker no need to soak the dal and you can cook for 2 whistle.
