Shakarpara from Indian state Maharashtra

Shakarpara, also known as Shankarpali, is a crispy, mildly sweetened snack. These bite-sized fried Indian cookies come together quickly, and are popularly made during festivals such as Diwali and Holi.

Prep time : 10 minutes

Process time : 20 minutes

Total time : 30 minutes

Ingredients: 

  • Maida - 1 cup

  • Powdered Sugar - 1/2 cup

  • Baking soda - 1 tsp

  • Salt - 1 tsp

  • Ghee - 3 tsp

  • Oil - to fry

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl add maida, powder sugar, baking powder, salt and mix it

  2. Then add ghee and mix it, the flour should hold and break it, that will be the correct texture of flour mixing with ghee

  3. Add required water and knead to stiff dough

  4. Roll out thick, cut into desire shapes and deep fry in oil

  5. Strain and serve with chai
