Prawn Caldine -Goan

The Caldine Curry is a yellow non spicy Goan curry, its usually made with fish, but some people make it with prawns as well as vegetables. But the original caldine curry is made with any fleshy fish.

Ingredients:

  • Prawns - 1/2 cup

  • Coconut - 1/4 cup

  • Byadagi chili - 3

  • Ginger - 1/2 inch

  • Garlic - 5

  • Pepper - 1 tsp

  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp

  • Coriander seeds - 1 tsp

  • Salt - 1 tsp

  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

  • Tamarind pulp - 3 tsp

  • Onion - 1

  • Tomato - 1

  • Green chili - 3

  • Oil - 1 tsp

  • Water - 1 cup

Instructions:

  1. Wash and marinate the prawns with salt and turmeric powder for 10 minutes

  2. In a mixer jar, add coconut, byadagi chili, pepper, cumin , coriander seeds, tamarind pulp, ginger-garlic, turmeric and salt. Grind to fine paste

  3. In a pan add oil, then add onion and sauté it well, then add green chili and fry well

  4. Now add tomato and cook until it becomes mushy

  5. Now add the masala paste and mix well, sauté until raw smell goes

  6. Then add marinated prawns into it and mix well

  7. Pour required water and cover and cook until prawns are cook

  8. Serve hot with rice
