Dāl bhāt is a traditional meal originated from the Indian subcontinent. It consists of steamed rice and a cooked lentil or other pulses stew called dal. It is a staple food in these countries. Bhāt or chāwal means "boiled rice" in a number of Indo-Aryan languages.
LETS GET COOKING:

Ingredients:
Toor dal - 1/2 cup
Cinnamon - 1/2 inch
Cloves - 3
Cardamom - 3
Pepper - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Dried red chili - 2
Onion - 1
Tomato - 1
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt - as per taste
Oil - 1 tsp
Instructions:
Wash the toor dal, turmeric powder & water, pressure cook for 4 whistle, once pressure is out, mash the cooked dal & keep aside
Dry roast, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, pepper, cumin seeds & dried red chili until aromatic, cool down & grind to coarse powder
In a pan add oil, sauté onion & tomato well until they turn mushy
Add turmeric powder, roasted spice powder & salt as per taste & sauté until aromatic
Now add cooked mashed toor dal to it and mix well
Boil for 10 minutes
Serve hot with rice or roti
